Tara
Hi I was wondering if somebody could tell me if the Ghost Shrimp/ Glass shrimp shed there outer skin as they grow I have two Ghost shrimp and a few weeks ago I thought I had a dead shrimp because I found it's skin/Shell attached to a plant but then I found two if them swimming around so I thought maybe I was given an extra one, But then today when I got home I found what looks like an outer shell sitting on the sponge filter and still have two shrimp floating around. Callatya
They do indeed, just like crabs, yabbies and other types of shrimp and prawns. They should shed fairly regularly too, given their size and growth. As they grow larger they'll shed less often but while they are small and growing quickly they can trade up rather quickly. Leave the old shells in the tank for them to eat, they are a valuable source of calcium for the little guys :)
