Callatya Posted August 30, 2006 Report Share Posted August 30, 2006 Ohhh, I remember this actually. Been a while since I've thought of bloodworms! The exoskeleton gets quite tough and can cause blockages, particularly in small fish, because its hard to break down in the gut (and on top of that, when does a fish ever just eat ONE? its always as many as they can!). Its when the larvae start to go that darker browny red. I think I saw a close up somewhere of one in that stage, it looked like it would take some serious chewing.
