Newbie to the hobbie

Hi all, thank you for taking the time to read. A bit about me... well I'm from Melbourne Australia and have just got into fish keeping, with my wife and 3 boys. We have found and enjoyed the beauty of our halfmoon betta that has tank mates of neon tetra and a bristlenose.

The fun we have had so far from learning about how to set up our tank properly and to now learning about how many different types of betta there will never cease to amaze us.

I came across these forums looking at genetic information, as this is something I have done in the past with other animals as I was a farmer for many years after growing up on one.

We all love to look after our pets (of which we have many not just fish) and as part of our family they bring us so much joy to look at and look after.

I guess really as you get older and things don't work as well in our bodies as they once did, it has been humbling to find so much joy in something that doesn't require so much physical activity.

I hope to be able to contribute in the future as we learn more about these amazing friends.

Thanks

BradR

Welcome Brad. You should come along to the Aquarium Society of Victoria meetings. Current President Jess is a Betta Show Judge. Last Friday of every month, next meeting 27 September, 7:30pm at 29 Grant Street, Clifton Hill. This month the guest speaker is Hans-Georg Evers, corydoras specialist from Germany. Come early. There’ll be a fair few people there.
