BettaObsessed
Any ideas what it is and how it got into my tank???
paul
Damselfly nymph (or larva)
Matt_95
Yea, that's what it is, I would remove all the fry and either move them to a new tank or make sure the old one is free of them. They will most likely hide in moss or plants.
BettaObsessed
Could it have eaten some of my fry? It was hiding in some weed I put in there a couple of weeks ago. How did it get into my tank??? Edit: I just googled damselfly and answered my last question. I guess it came in with the mozzie wrigglers. Matt_95
Yes, that is probably what it was living off. I had a few in one of my tanks, they ate all of my 100+ shrimp :(
BettaObsessed
I have just moved the fry to a new tank and there is only 17 fry in there. I'm sure I started with 50+ 3 weeks ago :(

BettaObsessed
I'm glad I found it today while I still have some fry left! Suddenly those "pretty blue dragonflies" don't look quite so pretty! Can't even do anothe spawn with the same pair because I lost the male to white spot. melbournebetta
Oh dear, I've been scooping out the mozzie larvae from our big 44 gallon drum in the backyard. Are Damselfly known around Melbourne? I've never seen one.... but I don't look for flies much. :T They EAT FRY!? I'm going to cry. how big is that nymph Betta Obsessed? Yuuuuuuuuuuuuck
BettaObsessed
It would have been maybe 2cm at most probably smaller. If you google damselfly you can see what they look like, they're like a dragonfly with blue on them. I didn't realise they were anything different to dragonflies when I saw them a couple of months ago.
GoldenGirl13
Yep damsel nymph....I had some a while ago in my community tank. Even my 2 Golden Gourami girls used hide from them. They will eat your fry no worries. Buggers... :censor:

BettaObsessed
Better the wrigglers than my fry I have 2 buckets with wrigglers in them so I will just take them from the other bucket.
