  1. drajit82, That's great - it's so much about personality - don't worry, there'll be some Vic fish up for sale in no time - I gots me a feeling it'll be a Victorian betta spree!! Lots of HM in the grow out tanks with a few breeders.... Kertaz, I'm sure they likes ya- just because they happen to associate you with food, dosen't mean they don't wish you'd come back! -Ness
  2. What handsome fish! Are these from Cobourg? Dumbo has lovely HM spread - well done! - and I love the dramatic colouring on the PK x
  3. DAMN thats the only other thing beyond betta that I know Tuxedo and Snakeskin. I like tuxedo-snakeskins, they're nice... combining the two things beyond betta that I know about fish. Oh, and Shoe eels. might just stick to betta.
  4. DIVER DAN I remember the one - but I can't find a pic - he had an airline attached (or something) and would float to the top, then somehow sink again - aaaaghhh I was there (child of the 80's) find a pic! QUICK! -nostalgicNess
  5. While you lot all talk in tongues about different plants - I'll just respond about the green stuff and the brown stuff.... The brown stuff looks 2000% better on the side, personally I'd plant up the left hand side all the way from the back to the front (obviously shorter at the front) so you can't see where the end of the wood is... gives it more of a natural "cross-section" look than a block of wood in a tank. Here is what our CGI Engineers came up with as a graphic representation of this recommendation: Loving that new vector paintbrush... but you get what I mean, and build up the background. Just my humble opinion - keen in mind i know nothing about green and brown stuff, just know what I'd like to look at. xx
  6. They're a very handsome couple! Can't think off the top of my head who's making crowntails that look like that... hmm (; I'll keep an eye out for a spawn log x
  7. I don't have one, and I'm interested to hear what the reviews are like... End of the day I think you'd find yourself having to do water changes weekly anyway, my concern is heat... every betta needs a heater (rhymes) x What's in the box? 8. Hai - yep! Matt spotted it as a black anenonenentoneneme fish - but it was labeled as a tomato aneneonotneneonenonome fish. technical terms.
  9. Honorary members considered? Sounds ace boys - can't wait to see giddy QLD meets and table shows! x
  10. ipad ipad - you're good on that thing! I'd pop it on the side if you could - create the tension, but you're still going in a great direction as you are. Woo! fun tank I love this incarnation. x
  11. Yeah Matt, my inventory at the moment is: Pair of of HM giants (Dragon Marble) Pair of White Dragon Salamanders Juvi Mustard gas Blue & Yellow Pair of Marble Coppers (photographed) and a requested a big red HM male for ruby, we'll see what Preecha comes up with. Still think buying from Aquabid lets you be more analytical - although you are still exposed to the same concerns about shipping, and trusting the breeder will put the right fish in a bag! But as I said - any issues, I'd not be hesitant to speak with Preecha to crack the whip and keep everyone in line! (; x
  12. Ray, can you be our plant jedi? Jess the tank looks great, loving the driftwood... I wish I could keep mne without whit slime all over, no amount of boiling makes it go away... Wah. Anyway, loving the red.... Remember all that previous design stuff I mentioned? Asymmetry and negative space- same principals go for feature colour & hardscapes like the opals n driftwood. Gosh, looking back at the original, this can be the fat boy slim tank "you've come a long way, baby" (so 90's) loving the planty teamwork! x greeNess
  13. Matt - don't breed, just support the breeding industry by buying my fish ! I can't wait to see them all home safe and sound to be honest... not sure when the next shipment is coming in (undercovermatt?) Mr Salamander would look great next to my little lavender salamander BF - ah hurry up! yee haw. x
  14. Hey Ricey! You've put a smile on my dial, thanks for brightening up my work day - not only are you a Melbournite (always fun) but you already have betta and are breeding them no less! I'm all giddy. Dandenongs are a georgous area - lucky you. You'll notice quickly that everyone here BEGS for photos - and, well, I'll be honest, I'm about to get on that bandwagon. Best to join up with Photobucket, it's a really easy & fast way to host your photos & post them here. Where did you get your halfmoons from? Were you at the fish fair? So many questions! -Welcome x Ness
  15. Haw Haw Haw... Pity about the biting - maybe cross him with a PK so he has less to hold onto? Itbites - I'm glad you mentioned the rest of the fish - I wonder how the LFS feel about the supplier providing blind fish? (perhaps too sticky a subject to ask more than rhetorically) Anyways - he's a handsome man, looking forward to seeing some pics up against a mirror! Looks like he has good size on 'im. x Ness
  16. Hello Fellow Melbournite - hope your tanks are warm (it's bloody freezing) This forum has been a fantastic resource for my breeding along with all the perils of fish keeping.... I hope you find it as helpful. What are your thoughts on what you're thinking of breeding? Got fish already? There's a vibrant Victorian Betta community (pardon the shameless spruke) and some tallented breeders on this forum - so you're in good hands. All the best (looking forward to hearing more!) -Ness
  17. Itbites - responsible! But there's two ways the blindness might occur - as a percentage of each spawn, or as a development that happens in age..... I'm curious to hear if Jarrod or any other breeders with the Dumbo gene end up with any blind fry - a good thing to keep tabs on. (I was going to say "keep an eye on" but that would have been crass) -Ness
  18. Blind eh? Interesting.... the dumbos I saw in Thailand were blind also - looked like they had eyelids over existing eyeballs - but we know they don't have lids! Some of the breeders there said you had to be very careful with new mutations as they often come with undesirable elements, and often take many many generations before they breed true (i.e. every fry demonstrating the desired mutaiton and none with the undesirable one) It's such early stages of understanding (for me) I'm just curious about it all - if you could find a lilttle lady for him, would you breed? -Ness
  19. Lovely Copper butterfly dumbo PK - can u get a shot of him flairing? He's great ! Where did you get him?
  20. I was so sad about him!!! Preecha is going to be judging at the show at the end of the month, so i've given him a budget and asked him to git me a shiny red man for little ruby. x
  21. I'm very grateful I got to go - something really lovely about travelling with a trajectory - on a mission - you always end up sharing your passion with complete strangers and making friends! The last 2 days were spent in Hua Hin (tourist hell) surrounded by whities trying to get a bargain and haggling with tuk tuk drivers. Who can take you seriously when you are THAT sunburnt? Go away angry little pink man. Funny! I indulged in the tourist lifestyle (bowing to my travel partner's wishes) for the last 2 days - I was aimless and without much joy - but had a silly smile on my face from Preecha's gentle manner and Patsayawan's cheeky giggle. x

  23. http://www.victoriabetta.com/mb-in-thailand.html Apologies for the delay, my net connection is perfectly impossible sometimes.... and there was a lot of junk to get through. Forgive the quality of the photos, it's hard to shoot in crazy heat and humidity, when you're trying to be on a buying spree, speak Thai and stay upright!
