  1. Hey Mandz, Firstly, welcome to the forum - you have quite the stable there! #3 looks like a rosetail Veiltail marble with dragon scaling (lulu) #5 is lovely (as Jarrod said VT male) Can't wait to see what you got from the Brissy boys - along with what you collected in Melb recently - was it at the fish fair? Razzi had some stunners up for grabs. Oh & I think Rhys is from Bendigo.... or near by, maybe? (: -Ness
  2. Hey Les, They pop them in there from around 2-3 months, depending on aggression, and I believe after 6-12 months they're either sold or housed in around 1-2 litres to encourage flaring and exercise.... i'd say they're around 500-800ml? Keep in mind that it's 30+ degrees there, so heating isn't an issue - but the clever cuts on the side are a great way to do fast multiple water changes. -Ness
  3. Seriously they were around 6 cm all over..... I've seen guppies with big beautiful tails, but these looked like normal betta sized bodies. kewt
  4. I saw some giant guppies in Thailand, and was wondering if anyone's seen them in Australia? There's a link here to a photo of 'em It's not always the case that bigger=better, but they're so BIG with all those frilly tails, I think I'd be tempted to get back into guppies if I could find some moster ones.......... Anyone? -Ness
  5. I'd love to see some sailfin mollies in my next tank (why am I suggesting this?) nawty
  6. Oh Noes!!!! I love Cr. biateniatum Lagos (RAZZI, you breed 'em I'll buy 'em) Oh OH and A. striatum /A. australe Ahhhhhhhhhhhh my Betta ONLY policy just flew out the window. x

You have too much time on your hands and clearly need a much bigger fish room!

Hahahah Razzi, don't worry, it's about to expand more than I can probably handle!

EEEK Thai imports on their way.

      *scared*

  7. Oh they're beautiful! They don't even look real! x
  8. Just did the waterchanges and over-haul... somehow my spawn tank has found it's self set up again... however did that happen?

  9. Get Busman to teach you Matto! Sounds like a meet not worth missing - important to show as much support as you can... we'll be there in spirit - should I send up some cardboard cut-outs of the melbournites... or not, just yet.... too soon? x
  10. Les - up to you, if he's busy he just won't respond! The next shipment is due out either Monday/Tuesday out of Thailand, so maybe if you're not sure, wait a week and ask when the "coast is clear" In the meantime you could start a new thread and ask around here! Bussy - Amen Brother! Sharin' the wealth, and as Jarrod said - we's all doing such different stuff, it's great to see the diversity in everyone's goals and direction! -happiNess
  11. I Ran from Geelong once........ took ages. ha. Welcome Ran, it's a pretty friendly forum & lots of guppy keepers around... seems like a bit of an inevitability in fish keeping - they're such charming lil fish. I've seen some pretty above-average snakeskin guppies at the Aquarium Society of Victoria table shows, and often they have yellow or orange snakeskins at the Coburg aquarium that I have to force myself to walk quickly past for fear of buying more fish. They also have a good bunch of Tuxedos & multis. -Ness
  12. Hey issh, (great username, is it short for something f-isshy?) I like your style - 20 cm -> 4 ft tank! I love angels, but don't know much about keeping them - have you got any photos? (: Welcome to the forum! -Ness
  13. Little update before someone's shipment arrives early next month and the MB line up expands further (and into GIANTS!) Frilly Fabulous and Full of it This little man is not breeding quality - (too many faults) but he is the most SPECTACULAR boy in my barracks, and as I lost the father of the Salamander Spawn, I can't possibly part with this little show pony. "Mr Moneyshot" (like his father, this is his resting position)
  14. Les, Hmmmmmmmmm well Dragons seemed to be VERY popular with most breeders- so you're in luck. I'm always going to be looking at any of Patsayawan's fish before I look for anything else- the man is a guru, and the most highly respected breeder in the area. I also have a lot of respect for Greatbetta's lines, he's on to something special (IMO) - but I'm only working off his AB shots, didn't meet him in person Not sure if GB is on AB at the moment - but Patsayawan has a few here and here - more of a MG focus at the moment. Best thing would probably be to email Preecha or Patsayawan directly: patsayawan@hotmail.com And tell them what you want - and mention you want A grade top show quality and see if they know anyone with the types that you're after. It's a very close-knit community, and as I said, they often each do something different, so they'll point you in the right direction. Good Luck! xx
  15. Welcome back Friendly! I'm a relative n00b (since you've been 'ere years ago) but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the Brissy Betta community - have a good look through the spawn logs - lotsa CT's in the mix there too. I guess you'll remember the drill - got any photos of your former Betta and fishy glory? Oh we do love a slideshow. (: Looking forward to hearing your fish stories, and cashing in on your wisdom (mwaha) -Ness
  16. LOVE LOVE LOVE it A made had an old one from a massive 70's daggy tv: Very cute - and when I was a kid I always wanted a gumball machine tank!!! Great work Roc! (where were you for the novelty section of the AusAquascaping comp I just held!? hheheheh) x

I'm terrified, I know I've got several pairs coming, but Preecha mentioned he was going to throw a couple more in - not only is this importing bill going to kill me, I gotta find somewhere for them to live! Yikes!

      Spare barracks anyone???

Do you know what are the extra fishes he's gonna throw in?

  18. I wish Aus Aqua had a chat function, more chat function in my life. Yeah. That's what I want

Well, mods... we promise we will use it! Fish chat would be fun.

Caudata.org, the salamander forum. We are so salamander wannabe owners haha (although I do have axies, which are sals).

"join us, be one of us" ...sounds like a George Orwell novel.

(; maaaaaaaaybe I'm already there, under cover!

.....or maybe I'm just lazy :P

  19. Charging forward, great news. (Time to get that license Jess, we can carpool up!) Can't wait to see it take shape. -Ness
  20. More than happy to support the Betta network. I heard over and over about the enthusiasm the Thai breeders have to encourage Aussie breeders/keepers/showers to get their acts together. If it needs a website, branding, energy, enthusiasm, networks - say the word, I'll do it. (Pending IBC member) -Ness
  21. Not sure when they'll get here, also not sure -exactly- what's coming....but I think there is a shipment coming in late this month, someone will let me know when they come in (don't want to harass her too much!) Very excited, the "barracks" eagerly await their arrival! -Ness
  22. SPARKLE PONY! Wow you've really mastered that camera Miss Del - beautiful photography lil lady. I want a freshwater sea haws tank so bad it hurts my face. wah x
  23. Nicola - sounds like you're on the right track. Personally I love live plants - i keep killing certain types - so I just cross them off my list and buy different types next time. Crypts and Java fern, and Anubias all seem to do well with any sort of lighting conditions. Those silk plants are kind of alright (especially when they're up the BACK of the tank!) Good luck!
