  1. This is my new pair. Female won 3rd place in the recent show. The boy has blue coming through now on his fins. Was almost completely white when I bought him.

It's been so l long since I saw a good wrap I forgot how beautiful it is. He had been very gentle, was very agro before I released her but neither fish has any damage yet.

No eggs yet but they are wrapping non stop. :-)

  2. There is also the bigger picture in all of this.

You can save a few $ here and there on all sorts of stuff (I know it can save big $ at times) but we all need the LFS to remain open otherwise our hobby will become extremely difficult. There are lots of benefits from being in close with your LFS, including good discounts on products. The only way you get in good with them is to be a regular customer and SPEND money. If you don't, they go broke and close.

Once I have found a good LFS, I am happy to pay an extra $5 on a heater , have a good talk with the staff and a poke around. It's enjoyable. And I feel like its my way of supporting my local.

A bit of topic I know but I know of at least two GOOD aquariums that have closed in the last few years and all of these little things contribute.

  3. I use natural sea salt flakes. Can take a photo tomorrow if you remind me. I get it from IGA, not cheap (cheaper than aqarium salt) but works. It must be natural salt.

I use approx I tablespoon (heaped) of salt to 1ltr water. Then add 1/4 teaspoon of eggs. Make sure when you add airline hose that it is at the very bottom of the bottle, against cap. 24-36 hrs later, live bbs. :-)

You saw my setup didn't you?

  4. Twenty is fine as it would be a slow drop.

Do as Ness said, bit of salt and look out for trouble. A thick blanket would help as well, thrown over tank at night.

My mates power is now back on after 22hrs so hopefully yours is too. :-)

  5. If you have some foam laying around, stick this to the sides and front. Will minimise heat loss at least.

Other than an open fire to heat the room but unless you Margret River way, I doubt you would have one. They should be ok. Good luck. :-)
