  1. I'm really afraid to try adding more rummy nose in case I have them all after Fin. It's bad enough watching a school of 6 chase him down. I just don't know what to do and catching those fish is almost impossible in my tank. We tried to remove them last night so that they could go into the QT tank but that was a joke. All the 'other' fish were swarming around the net, but the rummy nose knew we were trying to catch them and wouldn't come near it!
  2. LOL Bec. Hubby tried that one! No luck.
  3. My 215 litre community tank was going so well. All my fish living in harmony, no bullies other than the pregnant b*tch balloon mollie. Her attitude is kind of comical to be honest with you. All of a sudden, the school of 6 rummy nose tetra's have taken to attacking Fin, my gorgeous Betta. He has become so afraid that he now spends a good part of his time hiding. He used to patrol the front of the tank all day but now the rummy nose have him spending most of his time hiding. They nip at him and chase him with such attitude. Why would the balance in the tank suddenly change? They were all friends and now I'm not sure what to do. How do you deal with a gang of bullies??
  4. Yes Sarah, the Bettas love it!
  5. Yep, that's the moody Mollie, fighting for the best spot around the kebab. I didn't cook the cucumber, just peeled it and removed the seeds. I soaked the baby spinach in some hot water for a few minutes. I just poked the skewers deep into the substrate and then wedged it against the glass and they won't move at all. B)
  6. Cucumber and baby spinach. :D
  7. Kebab's were on the menu last night. Do you think the fish enjoyed them? LOL. xox Leonie xox
  8. OK, got it sorted guys. I used a combination of suggestions. I used some fishing line and a suction cup. Works perfectly.
  9. I love my floating water wisteria and water sprite and so do the fish. The issue is that it seems to only gather in one side/corner of the tank stealing the light from the plants that are underneath it. I'm noticing that the plants on that side of the tank are starting to struggle a bit. I'm trying to figure out a way that I can tether the floating plants to different areas of the tank, so i can move the bunch around every few days or so. That way, all of the plants will get a turn at the lights. Any ideas?
  10. I don't know enough about Pleco's to confirm your suspicions. I did a google images search and from what I see, I don't think he/she is a Gold Spotted. It looks the same as the other 2 that I have in other tanks and they were all bought from different places. I could be wrong though!
  11. I'm not sure why the Guppies don't survive. I had 5 in total, bought from 2 different shops and now I only have one left. All of my water parameters are spot on. They just spend their time at the top of the tank and won't survive more than a week. I have a book which talks about the fact that they used to be a hardy fish but now with the amount of inbreeding, they have become quite fragile. I won't bother with anymore Guppies, I really don't feel good about them dying off. My driftwood was tagged as 'Mongolian Gold Vine' I believe. It wasn't cheap, but I think it was worth it. It did not leach out any tanons and it didn't take long to make it sink either.
  12. I got the driftwood from Coburg Aquarium. It was just what I was looking for and it's a real focal point in the tank.
  13. It's a 215 litre, Aquaone tank. Glad the Mollie made you chuckle. I'll let her know. LOL
  14. My tank has been up and running for about 6 weeks now. It's really tanking shape and the plants are growing like weeds! I'm not doing anything special like Co2 or even ferts and just using the lighting that came with the tank. The residents are as follows: 3 balloon mollies 2 platties 1 guppie (can't keep them alive for some reason) 1 male fighter 1 bristlenose 14 neons 6 rummy nose There is so much activity in the tank at all times and it's so much fun to watch. The nasty balloon mollie who is terribly hormonal and rules the tank. I hope she pops her babies soon! My male balloon mollie who adores the nasty one above and will take a lot of cr@p from her. LOL My favourite balloon mollie who has a lyre tail which I am discovering isn't so common as the the tail type that the ones above have. One of my platties along with the nasty balloon mollie. She does actually have a name but I don't think I can get away using it on the forum! More pics to follow The tank. The neons And the bristlenose who has grown heaps in that short amount of time. He/she is actually now chasing away the nasty mollie to get to the food, hahaha. These pics are of my sons crown tail fighter, Ruben. He has the most beautiful fins and they are so LONG! Hope you enjoyed the photos everyone. I'm really having a blast with this. xox Leonie xox
