Les, I have been reading this thread with great interest. I like your style How many tanks have you got dedicated to guppies? I am thinking of developing a strain of my own, but can't decide what I want (can't even decide on colour) Matt, guppies with HM spread aren't new (possibly lost and re-discovered.) I remember as a kid in the 80's, seeing some amazing guppies in certain pet stores. They had some of the widest caudals I have seen to date.

Don't worry Ness, after hearing some of you southerners and Les coming over from WA, I'm not sure what I'm more excited about - the show, or meeting some of the wonderful people I have been interacting online with for the past couple of years! (oh, and the chance to swap/sell some sparkly fishies!!!)

Yep, any fish that will eat their own young will take the opportunity to snack on smaller fish... Maybe not now, but when the goldies get bigger you will see the numbers of small tankmates dwindle. I'm sure they look great together Bev, but unfortunately they aren't suited to live together...

Thanks Ness, It was your post about spawning for the IBC show that prompted me to make the premature announcement. I've been holding off until I had all info regarding prizes etc. Great to hear we have the support of the Melbourne crew no matter the show format. Cheers Jarrod

Due to many factors, it has been decided that this years Betta Australis show will NOT be an IBC show, but scaled down to a club show. 2013 will be the year of the IBC show. This years show will still be open to entries from around the country and all fish will be judged according to IBC rules by local judges. **NO IBC POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO ENTRANTS** Please watch this space for further information as it comes to hand. I will endeavour to present more details here about prizes etc once they have been announced by the Betta Australis show chair. Cheers Jarrod

Great setup you have there What light are you using for your barracks? I need to get some for mine. I'm seriously thinking about moving my office into the main house and using my current office as a dedicated fishroom to free up the bar and turn it back into my "Tiki Lounge"

This tank had fallen into a bit of disarray since I lost both of my mahachai. I've had a solitary splendens girl in it solo with all but the java ferns dead due to inadequate lighting. In anticipation of my new wilds arriving, I cleaned out the tank, added a few more low light plants (more java fern to the driftwood, val and some baby crypts), gave it a waterchange and tidyup. Trying to decide whether to add a trio of cories...

The Indonesians do sun their CTs and also, someone has mentioned before that they don't do as many water changes on their CTs as they do the other fancy types...

I'd rather donate it to the club to help raise money. I have more than enough tanks. The club and this competition is all about trying to establish a community of like minded betta enthusiasts, not about what one person can get for themselves...

Well, as long as no one has a problem with it, I'll enter and raffle off any prizes I win...
