  1. Pics of these nano chillers? What sort of temp. range do they do and how much do they cost?
  2. I do despise most barbs but lately I've found myself wanting to overhaul my Discus tank and toss in a group of Odessas and Cherry barbs, lol. They do look incredible in a planted tank. We've got both in our 5 x 2 display at work and not many people believe they're the same as the ones in the sale tanks because they look so different... Had one or two people ask if they were dyed red!! I did indeed have a Ghost knife, they're fine with Discus, Angels, Gouramis, etc.. But watch your little fish. They will disappear once the Ghosty gets sizable. Now that my Ghost knife went belly up I'm considering Galaxy Rasboras too.
  3. Anyone here speak Thai? What does 'Hon' mean??

Sabai dee mai ka... you just said " how are you?"

  4. I think a lot of the Angels eating smaller fish must be nonsense.. I have yet to experience it, but then again I allowed my Raspbora Espei to get to full size before I added big Angels/Discus. But in any case, I've got a school of Red Phantom Tetra and Black Phantom Tetra, I think they're great.. They stay bottom-mid levels. Rasbora Espei are mid-top. Maybe think outside the box... What about Cherry barbs or Odessa barbs? They're quite the underestimated little fish. Oh and re; nipping... I had 6 Serpae Tetra in a 90lt/30 inch tank and they were AWFUL. They nipped everything, especially each other. I think the sole reason is due to tank size and stocking levels! As I said, I've now got 12 Red Phantom Tetra and I think about 6 Black Phantom Tetra which are quite similar to the Serpae and they've never nipped anything and the fin displays between the males is actually quite pretty.. I think I'm just rambling now.
  5. Gouramis and angels are fine together, I've got my Altums and my breeding pair in with a breeding pair of pearl gouramis and 3 different dwarves but I don't like your chances of them breeding in the same tank. My small angel pair have all my discus, other angels, gouramis, apistos etc down the other end of the tank when they spawn... A confirmed breeding pair of Discus isn't a cheap venture, and they're probably better off in a 3ft/30 inch but a 2ft is ok to spawn in but not long-term housing IMO.
  6. It's an Angelfish looking up! It's a sign...
  7. I actually see an angelfish in the top tank... can't be bothered to crop or circle it right now though. Breed angels! Or Gouramis?
  8. Warning; certain products where they state that 5ml = 1 capful is INCORRECT. Closer to 10ml! Make sure if you're using a capful as a dose rate that it actually equals 5ml. Don't trust the manufacturer!

  9. Auburn Aquarium has some really nice, well balanced female CTs right now

  10. I'd just like to point out you can hire me to supervise and advise on any waterchanging, set ups and fish moving around.. I have plenty of experience and accept payments in junkfood and various fish items. ;)
  11. My angels are spawning as I'm typing this... :P

  12. They are quite nice tanks. I'm sure you'll love it. Almost as big as mine, haha.
  13. On tuesday I had a 12cm saratoga launch out of the tank I was gravel vac'ing and land directly down my shirt. I didn't know whether to save my dignity or the fish. It's funny now but.. ugh. NEVER telling the other staff. LOL
  14. Ok so I spelled it wrong and I think you're getting confused. Rasbora Maculata = dwarf rasbora. Green Macrandra = rotala plant
  15. About time for another update. Mid-week: Noticed my rasbora numbers dwindling. Friday arvo: Came to the conclusion some are dying off from some bacterial thing that only seems to effect them, and the rest may have been eaten... So I bought 12 red phantom tetra. Satuday night: Found my ghost knife fish in a terrible stinking mess floating at the top of my tank. Mucho disappointment but I suspect he had been snacking on the rasbora, or they're just dying off.. I dunno. So I bought 12 red phantom tetra for.. nothing basically. I could of gotten the rasbora maculata like I originally wanted. :/ Such is life. Tonight: Removed the big boot shaped log that was the ghostys home. Planted the green maculata trimmings from work where the zosterfolia and the log were. Moved a green tiger lotus (because I pulled it when I pulled the log up, oops). Tank somehow looks narrower now. :/ now looks like: This is my red spotted green Discus who is '2nd in command' in the hierarchy (Burnie, the one in my avatar is the boss fish), he was chasing around the other guy when I took the pic. Still trying to figure out camera settings... :P
  16. Just as a bump for Matt, find a pet shop that sells Pisces crickets, they should be able to order in pinheads for you no worries. We do it for a few guys.
  17. Looks like I'll be getting a Dusky Lory soon. :D

Ok, no dusky lory but definitely a cinnamon green cheek conure and possibly a scaly breasted lory. :P

  18. Working in an LFS you sometimes find fish in some really, really weird places. Sometimes alive, sometimes not so much...
  19. Horses are easier, even when they're bucking, farting and pretending to spook.... :P
  20. Burnie by big boss discus looks SO confused when I'm not near the tank and yet food is dropped in. It's adorable!

Lol! Do you have an automatic feeder going?

  21. With Angels I've found it the opposite of betta girls, you have to cull the jerks! Get 'em out, take 'em back, make them live solitary lives, etc. I added and added until my tank was full and the aggression only got worse (and was allowed to run like that for well over a month). Now I'm down to 2 breeding pairs in my discus tank and they're fine until they start breeding. It's really amusing watching an angel half the size of the boss discus chase him and all the others down the other end of the tank.
  22. HAhaha, I also read it as 'my' birthday. Happy birthday MT!
  23. I told him I will never ever click his tarantula thread, so he posted a tarantula pic in here, so I gave a little warning and he swapped it to... unillamas. :P
  24. I've got 2 canisters and an internal filter running on my Discus tank and still get this. Mulm and broken down plant matter, collects anywhere it can. You can aim a powerhead at the area so it all gets stirred up and picked up by the filter but then you'll end up with another dead zone where it all collects again... So I just pretend I don't see it.
