  1. I decided the shrimp tank badly needs a rescape and vaccum, so I pulled everything out then realized there's dozens of shrimplets (CRS and RCS).. Guess what I'm now trying to catch so I can clean the tank?? Sigh..

Oh well, on the up side... more shrimps!! ;)

Only if the Halfmoon Betta in there doesn't find them. :P He doesn't bother the adult ones.

Hahaha, oh well... you win some you lose some. ;)

  2. Three cheers for LFS fish! Not a single Thai fish would blow a bubblenest. Put in a boy I got at my LFS and what does he do? Big bubble nest, bars on the female.. Female has been released!!

I'm not sad, just annoyed.. Don't think I'll waste money on importing males again, not when I can order nice fish from my LFS who seem to be much healthier. Females are another story though..

      Would be very annoying.

Yeah, I'm sure the LFS will be able to help you get some nice Bettas. Good luck with the rest, I hope they heal well for you.

Female was being pretty violently chased so I put her back in the trap this morning. Come home from work to find a biiig nest and a very, very eager male. I think I'll let her back out again before lights out.

  3. Red dragon HMPK's bacterial infection is clearing up.. But now there's a big hole in his anal fin where it joins his body. :/

    1. Sarah

      Sarah

Good to hear about the infection Yan. :)

Too bad about the hole.. there seems to be something around.. but it isn't your fault, don't think that. It's just bad luck, and maybe the time of year.

  4. It's not so much about 'taking interest', my dads just swim around with no regard at all for the plants and tear them up and uproot them accidentally.
  5. I wouldn't have clown loaches in a planted tank, not after they get to a decent size anyway. I tried to plant out my dad's tank once, nothing stayed rooted very long. With his though it was a combo of loaches and a lot of very large adult sized bristlenoses.
  6. Can't you just keep them in a bare tank with (big) water changes until you can offload them on someone else or an LFS?
  7. My barracks are divided with glass, there's a small gap in the front.. Due to some issues with the sump it's not fully set up yet, just one tank running. I have a heater in each end, a (very) large sponge filter in the 2nd chambers from the ends, the heat is fairly even. It's 30inch long, 6 chambers.
  8. At no point in time were any of my 3 pairs from someone ever in together and yet all 3 males have come up with issues.. What the hell is wrong in my tanks?!

About 3 weeks ago they came, doubt stress would cause them to pop up with tumors or bacterial infections.. Velvet and things like that I can see happening but not what's going on with the dragons.

      volvodriver

I agree with the tumor not being stess for sure and so sorry to hear he didn't make it. How is the red dragon boy doing? Good to hear that the lavender boy is over it.

Must be confused?? All are still alive. Red dragon boy is sulking 'cause I've been taking him out and painting the wound with multicure.. No improvement yet, but not any worse either.

  9. Great photo. I would have it printed and frame it! :P
  10. Get home from a stressful, tiring weekend away after leaving the clear instructions of 'Do not feed my fish'.. What does he do?? ALGAE PELLETS IN EVERY TANK!!!!!!

Theres something about parents that seems to hard-wire them to not take instructions properly :P lol I can empathise! Hope its all ok now.

All seem to have come through it fine but doing the water changes seems to have made my already really sore back damn near unbearable. Missed work today. :(

Damn :( Take it easy, hope it gets better soon.

  11. Full moon on monday 22, maybe the pairs in my spawn tanks will finally do something aside from 1. beating each other up and 2. playing follow the leader

I know some species of... I think coral only breed under the full moon. Thats because of extra light I think. The moon does have a gravitational pull like all planets... so who knows how that could effect them???

    3. Sarah

      Sarah

That's right, I did know about coral. Still don't know.. as long as they breed for us, I don't really mind if it makes a difference or not.

What's the latest Yan? Moon was pretty full lastnight! Any luck? Which pairs have you got set up?

  12. Really? The leaves look too thick to me.
  13. I have seen ghost shrimp walk out of my community tank via the tiny hole for the cables and end up fried by my lights on the lids.. My cherries don't seem to go anywhere despite the open top tank.
  14. Huh.. I wouldn't of even considered crossing her on him, they look so different.. Nice thinking Paul lol Might have to evict the fish from my current spawn tanks and see if this one will at least blow a bubblenest. How about first pick of the fry if I can ever get him to breed?
  15. Ugggghhh. photobucket got a makeover. Now I can barely work the stupid thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! Anyway.. Couple more pics.. I bought a photo tank (very small divided tank), just trying to work out the kinks (way too many reflections.. might have to go with a neutral background instead of black ). I didn't think I'd ever find another longfin that I liked enough to actually own.. but this guy is pretty awesome. I love everything about his colour. I need to find me a matching female now. :P
  16. lol I have two dogs, two cats, six cockatiels (only this one is handreared and lives inside), a budgie.. I won't even attempt to count the fish. :P
  17. Pictures of my new boy. :)
  18. Oops, forgot to mention.. There's broad and narrow leaf varieties. Yes it needs to be planted, same as you would for an amazon/sword plant. They do like a really rich substrate, like proper plant substrate (flourite, ADA aqua soil, flora base etc). Sandy substrates are good too.
  19. Looks like a baby chainsword, they spread via runners hence the 'stem' in the middle of it.
  20. Aw man, I'm going to be spending the weekend at my sisters and will miss out on the friday night big reveal. :(
  21. He's absolutely hideous! I'll bear the burden and take him for you Shadoh and hide him in a dark room where no one will ever have to see him.. You won't have to live with the shame of such an ugly fry! You know I'm just joking, he's gorgeous, and I suspect he's on steroids with such growth! Well done. :)
  22. Has my first longfin HM male in a while...

Will get a pic tonight hopefully, once he settles in.

  23. Nice set ups. I could see two (possibly 3) cherry shrimp in that picture. :D
  24. Just wait until my barracks is fully set up so I can finally stop spending money on it and someone's fish.. then I can buy a new camera! I'll spam you all to lagville, the forum won't even load it will be so full of pics. Maybe once I get a new camera, it'll actually be able to focus ON the fish. I miss my old camera. I have been trying for a good half hour now to get a picture of the marble CT female I got, she just doesn't stop moving though. She is mostly white but the areas that are coloured are amazing. Different colours depending on the light/angle. Purple, blue, green, a mixture of all of the above.. She is gorgeous. :)
  25. Another stinking hot day, almost too hot to do anything.. So here's some more terrible and unflattering pics. The lavender butterfly male is being treated for velvet.. He's look much better today though, unclamped and much more active. Anddd moved the Rutilan pic so it would actually show up. :)
