  1. Hi Cory. Welcome to AAQ.
  2. Ahh... ok... didn't see this post before I replied to this guy's thread in the critique forum. If this is Shemma's fish (which seems highly likely) then it's descended from Jo Oakley's marbles which carried metallic. Several Melbourne breeders got fish from Jo at around the same time. The sibling spawns produced lots of solids, marbles, butterflies and cellophanes. I think this colour is very likely caused by one copy of the metallic gene affecting one of the underlying blue, steel, or turquoise but I'm not sure which one it is.
  3. Hi manhong, Maybe you could tell us a bit more about what you're planning on doing, what style of planted tank, etc.
  4. Yeah I like the 2nd pic as well.
  5. Really love the triband and butterfly crowntails. Gorgeous!
  6. Welcome to the forum. You might need to import them in. Try Fishchick Aquatics.

    Hello

Hi there Mist. Welcome to the forum. Well done with the spawn.
  8. How about some of those cute little rasboras that are available now? There seem to be more varieties come onto the market in recent times. I've seen hengeli and brigittae in Melbourne recently. Not sure what would be available in Adelaide.
  9. Hi Chloe. Welcome to the forum. Lilli, our admin will be along shortly to give you access to the rest of the forum. In the meantime feel free to browse and post here. Good luck with your new spawn. We'll all be interested to how it goes and see pics of the fry. Cheers, Michael
  10. I think they should be fine. If there is a peat container for each male that will prevent aggression.
  11. OMG.... I'm really getting old. I can't remember what I thought FLA meant. Or why I thought it was funny. And best of all.... I can't remember what SLA meant. AND I WAS THE ONE THAT SAID IT!!!
  12. Hi Shemma. Glad you managed to make it on here. There's still a bit of housekeeping to do in that our admin will have to give you access to the rest of the site. But at least now people will be able to say hello to you. Those of you planning on coming to the January Melbourne Betta gathering will be able to see Shemma's fishroom first hand. It's what mine would be like if I was neat and tidy. :D

    hello

Hi Ossie. Welcome to the forum. Our forum admin only has limited Internet access his week. But as soon as she's back she will grant you access to the rest of the site. In the meantime feel free to post here.
  14. I had the opportunity to visit Shemma's fishroom in Narre Warren last weekend. Apart from a couple of pairs of discus, Shemma primarily breeds bettas. The photos were taken on my phone so I didn't bother trying to get close ups of fish. Melbournians will have an opportunity to take a closer look at the next MBG which Shemma has kindly agreed to host. Here's a pic of the fabulous barracks that he's set up. It's based on mine but with a few little improvements. There are two rows with 40 bottles each on that top tier and there are plans to set up the same on the next shelf down. Yes, that's Shemma in the picture. A view of the other wall which holds growout and spawning tanks. This is the display tank in the family room. They're four month old siblings, males and females living happily together with hardly a torn fin in sight. If anyone is after some good blue or turquoise halfmoons send me a PM and I'll pass on Shemma's contact details.
  15. Sometimes it happens to me for no apparent reason. I'm technically competent enough not to randomly click on things. I think what happens is that your browser loses track of the cookie or whatever that controls how messages display.
  16. I'm confident the Report button works. All the mods and admins get an email when a post is reported. And they do come in regularly. Let us know if you're still experiencing issues. If you could take note of the error message that would be great.
